Advantages are that you get more guilds, more people in cities and trade chat, and a healthy economy (though that is not faction-specific). I ran some queries on all NA servers today for population estimates as found using a check of those in the LFG chat channel. This is obviously not perfect but is a much closer estimate than Ironforge.Pro or CensusPlusWOTLK.Horde-side it's absolutely dead.
